Overview

A Template Site is a dedicated sub site within a WordPress Multisite network that serves as a central library for custom Beaver Builder templates.

All layouts, saved rows, modules, and reusable content created on the Template Site become available to every sub site in the network.

This setup is commonly used for:

  • Managed client website networks
  • Internal enterprise site systems
  • DIY website builder platforms
  • Franchise or multi location site structures

Prerequisites

Before setting up a Template Site, confirm the following:

  1. WordPress Multisite is installed and active
  2. Beaver Builder Unlimited License is installed and activated

The Template Site feature is only available in Multisite environments with the Unlimited license.

How It Works

  • One sub site in the network is designated as the Template Site.
  • That site becomes the master source for templates.
  • All other sub sites automatically pull templates from it.
  • Templates can be organized into categories for easier access in the Beaver Builder Content Panel.

Important limitation:

  • Only one Template Site can exist per network.
  • You cannot assign different Template Sites to different sub sites.

Setup Instructions

Follow these steps carefully.

Step 1: Log in as Network Admin

Log into WordPress using a Super Admin account.

Navigate to: Network Admin Dashboard

Step 2: Create a Template Sub Site

Create a new sub site that will act as the Template Site.

Go to:

Network Admin > Sites > Add New

Give it a clear name such as:

  • Templates
  • Master Templates
  • Azits Template Hub

Once created, note the Site ID of this sub site.

You can find the Site ID by:

  • Hovering over the site in Network Admin > Sites
  • Checking the URL for site_id=#
  • Or using a site listing plugin if needed

Step 3: Assign the Template Site

Navigate to: Network Admin > Settings > Beaver Builder > Templates

Locate the field: Override Core Templates > Enter the Site ID of the Template Site sub site.

Click: Save Template Settings

Once saved, this sub site becomes the official Template Site for the entire network.

Important System Behavior

When a Site ID is entered into Override Core Templates:

  • All default Beaver Builder prebuilt templates are removed from the network.
  • Only templates from your Template Site will be available.

This is expected behavior.

Support teams should communicate this clearly before activation.

Adding Templates to the Template Site

You can add templates in two ways:

Option 1: Build Directly on the Template Site

  • Open the Template Site.
  • Create layouts using Beaver Builder.
  • Save layouts, rows, and modules as templates.
  • Assign categories where needed.

Option 2: Import Templates

  • Import exported templates from another website.
  • Use Beaver Builder import tools to add them to the Template Site.

Once added, all sub sites will immediately have access to these templates in the Beaver Builder interface.

Template Categories

If multiple template groupings are required:

  • Create categories within the Template Site.
  • Assign templates to those categories.
  • Users will see these categories inside the Beaver Builder Content Panel.

This is useful for:

  • Industry specific layouts
  • Page type templates
  • Client tier groupings
  • Internal vs external use templates
